BCHL Today: Bucks, Clippers and Vees add more for 2020-21, Warriors captain Harrison commits to UNO, and more

Clippers add Delta Academy forward Daniells

The Nanaimo Clippers have signed forward Kai Daniells for the 2020-21 season. Daniels was fourth in scoring on the Delta Hockey Academy Midget Prep this past season with 14 goals and 19 assists in 29 games.

The 17-year-old from Whistler, BC got into one BCHL game with the Chilliwack Chiefs as an affiliate player but didn’t score any points.

Vees add Merrimack-bound forward O’Brien

The Penticton Vees continue to build their Centennial Cup-hosting roster with the addition of forward Devlin O’Brien for 2020-21. The 17-year-old comes from St. Andrew’s Prep School in Aurora, Ontario.

O’Brien had 42 goals and 27 assists in 56 CAHS games this past season. He added seven goals and nine assists in 12 CISAA games. He is committed to attend Merrimack College starting in the fall of 2021.

Bucks sign Yale commit Sullivan

Boston Junior Bandits captain Connor Sullivan has committed to play with the Cranbrook Bucks in 2020-21. Sullivan is from Plymouth, Massachusetts and committed to attend Yale University in September 2021.

Bucks GM and head coach Ryan Donald has been an assistant coach at Yale for the last five seasons. Sullivan, 19, had seven goals and 38 assists in 50 games with the Jr. Bandits this past season.

Warriors captain Harrison commits to University of Nebraska-Omaha

West Kelowna Warriors captain Jake Harrison will play NCAA hockey at the University of Omaha-Nebraska next season. The 20-year-old only got into one game with the Warriors this past season due to injury.

In his 166 game BCHL career with the Warriors, Harrison posted 18 goals and 65 assists. He had previously committed to Michigan Tech University in 2017 and the University of Michigan in 2018.

Former Chiefs forward Kawaguchi named NCHC Forward of the Year

In addition to winning the National Collegiate Hockey Conference Three Stars Award on Monday, University of North Dakota forward Jordan Kawaguchi (120 goals, 122 assists in 213 games for Chilliwack from 2013-17) was named NCHC Forward of the Year on Tuesday.

Kawaguchi is a finalist for NCHC Player of the Year and one of ten finalists for the Hobey Baker Award as the top player in NCAA hockey.

First Star: Langley forward Derek Grant had two goals and two assists in a 9-0 drubbing of Nanaimo.

Second Star: Chiefs forward Taylor Stefishen had a hat trick and added an assist.

Third Star: Penticton forward Brett Hextall scored a pair of goals as the Vees beat Westside 5-2.

Honourable Mentions: Chiefs forward Joey Manley posted three assists. Langley defenceman Nolan Julseth-White had a goal and two assists. Warriors goaltender Nathan Lieuwen stopped 36 shots.
