Former Chiefs defenceman Cholowski called up to Detroit

Dennis Cholowski (16 goals, 51 assists in 106 games with Chilliwack from 2014-16) has been called up from the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins to the Detroit Red Wings. The second-year pro defenceman has two goals and six assists in 30 games with the Wings this season and two goals and five assists in 19 games with the Griffins.

Former Cents, Caps and Vipers defenceman Gedig leaves Kassel

Blueliner Curtis Gedig (15 goals, 24 assists in 99 games with Merritt, Cowichan Valley and Vernon from 2008-10) left the Kassel Huskies of the DEL2 to return back home to Canada to deal with nagging injuries. Gedig played two games with Kassel after joining the club just before Christmas.

Three Stars of the Night

First Star:  West Kelowna goaltender Johnny Derrick made 25 saves for the shutout.

Second Star: Warriors forward Tyler Cristall scored the winning goal for West Kelowna.

Third Star: West Kelowna forward Levi Stauber notched the insurance goal.

Honourable Mentions: Warriors forward Deegan Mofford tallied a goal. Alberni Valley goaltender Luke Pearson made 28 saves.
