Bucks bring in Good for 2021-22

The Cranbrook Bucks have announced the signing of 2003-born defenseman Carsyn Good for the 2021-22 BC Hockey League season.

Good, a native of Brooks, AB, had three assists in six games with Northern Alberta U18 Prep of the Canadian Sport School Hockey League in 2020-21.

In 35 games with the Northern Alberta X-Treme Prep in 2019-20, Good notched three goals and 24 points to finish 15th among all defensemen in CSSHL U18 scoring.

Fitzgerald to attend Leafs’ development camp

Surrey Eagles forward Christian Fitzgerald is attending development camp with the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs. The 2002-born forward from Coquitlam, BC led the BCHL in scoring in 2020-21 with 33 points in 19 games.

The Minnesota State University (Mankato) commit is currently listed on the roster of the Tri-City Storm of the US Hockey League after being selected in the first round of Phase II of the USHL’s Entry Draft.

Cholowski signs an extension with Seattle

Defenseman Dennis Cholowski (16 goals, 51 assists in 106 games with Chilliwack from 2014-16) has signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Seattle Kraken as a restricted free agent.

The 23-year-old from Langley, BC bounced between Detroit of the NHL and the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League since being selected in the first round by the Red Wings in the 2016 NHL Draft.

He’s put up 10 goals and 27 points in 104 games with the Red Wings and six goals and 35 points in 69 games with the Griffins.

Schiavo signs a pro tryout with Kansas City

Forward John Schiavo (30 goals, 32 assists in 58 games with Merritt in 2014-15) has signed a professional tryout with the Kansas City Mavericks of the ECHL for this season.

The product of East Patchogue, NY scored 12 goals and totalled 28 points in 42 games with the Huntsville Havoc of the Southern Professional Hockey League in 2020-21. Schiavo’s last action in the ECHL was 20 games on loan to Kansas City in 2017-18.

Sherbinin signs with Kalamazoo for 2021-22

Defenseman Brayden Sherbinin (22 goals, 56 assists in 160 games with Westside, Cowichan Valley, and Salmon Arm from 2010-13) inked a contract for 2021-22 with the Kalamazoo Wings of the ECHL.

The 28-year-old from Kelowna, BC was released by Gap of Ligue Magnus on May 30 after having two assists in 13 games this past season, his first overseas after parts of three seasons in the ECHL.

Gill inks a contract with EV Landshut

29-year-old forward Sahir Gill (21 goals, 30 assists in 71 games with Vernon from 2008-10) is back in Germany for 2021-22 after signing with EV Landshut of the DEL2.

The Terrace, BC native played for Augsburger of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga from 2018-20. He also put up 16 goals and 40 points in 49 games with Villacher SV of the ICE Hockey League in 2020-21.

Coughlin set to play in Porkopolis

Defenseman Johnny Coughlin (three goals, 15 assists in 55 games with Vernon in 2014-15) has signed with the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL.

The 26-year-old native of Fairport, NY had two goals and three assists in 26 ECHL games with the Rapid City Rush in 2020-21.

Siso returns to the Storm for 2021-22

Calgary, AB product, and goaltender, Carlos Siso (1-1-0, 3.84 goals-against-average, .885 save percentage in three games with Alberni Valley in 2019-20) is back with the Campbell River Storm of the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League for 2021-22.

The 2001-born netminder had sparkling numbers with the Storm in 2020-21, posting a 3-1 record, a 1.74 goals-against-average, a .912 save percentage, and two shutouts in four games before COVID-19 shut the VIJHL season down.
